Alexandra The Great 48 was a popular international burlesque star who performed in major night clubs, super clubs, and hotels from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, and later worked as a beautician at Universal Studios. Among other career accomplishments, Alexandra The Great 48 was inducted into the Burlesque Hall of Fame in 2008.

Located on South Main Street in Las Vegas, the Burlesque Hall of Fame operates with the mission of preserving the legacy of burlesque as not only an art form but also a cultural phenomenon. In addition to housing thousands of costumes, photographs, and stage props, the Burlesque Hall of Fame organizes exhibitions based on specific themes. One of the exhibitions currently on display is “Body of Work: Midcentury Burlesque Through the Lens of F. Roy Kemp.”

Displayed in the main exhibition hall, the exhibit includes roughly 2,000 original photos, notes, and other material that was donated by Kemp’s family. The Canadian photographer worked in New York in the 1950s and documented the city’s burlesque scene. His collection includes on-stage and behind-the-scenes photos of highly-regarded stars like Tempest Storm, Blaze Starr, Jennie Lee, and Zorita. The exhibit opened April 17 and will be on display through December 31.
